How does a 3D scanner work?

A 3D scanner acts as a digital set of eyes, using lasers or structured light to measure an object's surface and capture millions of data points, known as a "point cloud". Specialized software then converts this raw data into a solid, continuous 3D model through a process called meshing, which allows the digital twin to be used for reverse engineering, quality control, or 3D printing.
