SA Filament Premium Glow-in-the-Dark PLA is an easy-to-print specialty filament that creates models capable of glowing after exposure to a suitable light source. Available in Blue GITD and Green GITD options, it combines the familiar printing characteristics of PLA with a distinctive luminous effect for decorative, practical and creative applications.
The filament prints at standard PLA-style temperatures, offers good layer adhesion and produces minimal warping. For reliable performance, use a 0.4mm or larger wear-resistant nozzle and allow the cooling fan to run at 100% from the second layer onwards.
Compatibility
• Compatible with most 1.75mm FDM and FFF 3D printers
• Suitable for direct-drive extruders
• Suitable for correctly configured Bowden systems
• Printer hotend should support temperatures up to 230°C
• Compatible with PEI, textured PEI, glass and other suitable PLA build surfaces
• A hardened steel or plated brass nozzle is recommended because the additives may cause accelerated nozzle wear
• Use a nozzle diameter of at least 0.4mm for dependable extrusion.
Glow Performance
• The filament must absorb light before it can glow
• UV light or strong daylight can help charge the printed object
• Glow intensity gradually decreases over time
• Thicker walls and higher infill may improve the visible glow
• The effect is most noticeable in dark environments
• Glow intensity and duration may vary according to the selected colour and charging conditions
• Re-expose the print to light to recharge the glow effect.
What’s Included
• 1 × SA Filament Premium Glow-in-the-Dark PLA Filament 1.75mm 500g Spool
• Vacuum-Sealed Protective Packaging
• Cardboard Storage Box.
Care Instructions
• Store the filament in a cool, dry environment
• Keep sealed in an airtight bag or container with desiccant
• Avoid prolonged exposure to humidity
• Dry the filament before printing if it has absorbed moisture
• Keep the filament free from dust and contaminants
• Ensure the spool feeds smoothly without tangles
• Use a wear-resistant nozzle for regular or extended printing
• Clean the nozzle when changing from another filament type
• Run a small test print before starting a large project
• Keep the finished print exposed to light when preparing it for dark use.
Important Printing Notes
• Glow-in-the-dark additives are more abrasive than standard PLA
• Brass nozzles may wear faster during extended use
• A hardened steel or plated brass nozzle is recommended
• Use a nozzle of 0.4mm or larger
• The final glow depends on exposure time, light intensity and model thickness
• This filament glows after charging and does not generate its own continuous light
• Printed objects should not be relied upon as certified emergency lighting or safety equipment.
